The Patent Archive was created by
Teevio as a means to catalog and browse the
USPTO (US Patent & Trademark Office) archives.
The Patent Archive is a publicly editable website and anyone who creates an account can start cataloging the patents on this website.
According to the
USPTO there is limited (or no) search capabilities for patent records between the years 1790 and 1975. There are over 3 million patents that fall within this date range, so it is imperative that better searching methods be created.
While you can search for patents on the
USPTO website and the
Google Patent Search,
The Patent Archive combines and builds upon both sets of data (which often has typos or no data at all) to provide a much more meaningful set of data.
